I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Ohio University. My research interests include the study of punishment, risk, and law in society as well as media and cultural theory. My research currently examines intersections of risk and imprisonment at emergent sites of social exclusion, including post-9/11 transnational war prisons. Publications include an edited anthology, titled Media Representations of September 11, which examines interdisciplinary interpretive approaches to media coverage of the 9/11 attacks and a forthcoming volume exploring issues of penal spectatorship in American culture (New York University Press).
